Common Name: Chinese Crassula
Origin: Mountainous regions of China and Southeast Asia
Description:
Sinocrassula is a lesser-known but truly eye-catching succulent, loved for its dark, almost black-green foliage and its tightly packed, spiky rosettes. Some varieties even have a fuzzy or velvety texture that adds to their mystique. They’re slow-growing, compact, and ideal for small pots, rock gardens, or mixed succulent arrangements.
The dark tones of Sinocrassula contrast beautifully with lighter succulents, making them a stunning choice for collectors or anyone wanting to add a little drama to their plant shelf.
🌱 Care Tips:
Light:
Thrives in bright, indirect light to full sun. Indoors, a sunny windowsill is perfect. Outdoors, give it morning sun and protect from harsh afternoon rays.
Water:
Like most succulents, Sinocrassula prefers a good soak when the soil is completely dry. Water sparingly, about every 1–2 weeks depending on the season. Reduce watering in winter.
Humidity:
Loves dry air and doesn’t need misting. Keep in a well-ventilated space to prevent rot.
Temperature:
Prefers temperatures between 16°C and 26°C (60°F–78°F). Protect from frost and avoid sudden cold drafts.
Soil:
Use a gritty, well-draining cactus or succulent mix. You can also mix regular potting soil with perlite or coarse sand.
Fertiliser:
Feed once a month during the growing season (spring to autumn) using a diluted succulent fertiliser. No feeding needed in winter.
Pet Friendly:
⚠️ Mildly toxic if ingested. Best kept out of reach of pets and young children.
