Common Name: Gold Dust English Ivy, Star Dust Ivy
Origin: Native to Europe and Western Asia
Description:
Hedera Helix 'Star Dust' is a charming and compact variety of English Ivy with beautifully variegated foliage. The leaves are deep green splashed with golden-yellow speckles—like they’ve been kissed by stardust. With its trailing habit and elegant form, this ivy is perfect for hanging pots, shelves, or as a cascading accent in a mixed arrangement.
It’s hardy, easy to care for, and adds a soft, classic touch to both traditional and modern indoor spaces.
🌱 Care Tips:
Light:
Prefers bright, indirect light. It can tolerate low light, but the variegation shows best with brighter conditions. Avoid harsh direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.
Water:
Water when the top 2–3 cm of soil feels dry. Keep the soil lightly moist but not soggy. Overwatering can lead to root rot.
Humidity:
Enjoys moderate humidity but adapts well to average indoor levels. Mist occasionally if the air is particularly dry, especially during winter.
Temperature:
Ideal range is 15°C to 24°C (59°F to 75°F). It can tolerate cooler conditions but should be protected from frost and cold drafts indoors.
Soil:
Well-draining potting mix works best. A general-purpose indoor mix with some added perlite or sand for drainage is ideal.
Fertiliser:
Feed every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer with a balanced, diluted liquid fertiliser. Pause during the cooler months.
Pet Friendly:
❌ No. Like other ivies, 'Star Dust' is toxic to pets if ingested. Keep out of reach of curious paws and little hands.
