Common Name: Elkhorn Fern, Staghorn Fern
Origin: Native to tropical and subtropical rainforests of Australia and Southeast Asia

Description:

The Elkhorn Fern is a dramatic and sculptural plant known for its antler-like fronds, which resemble the branching horns of a deer. This epiphytic fern grows naturally on trees, absorbing moisture and nutrients through its fronds rather than roots in soil.

Its unique growth habit makes it a stunning statement piece for walls, hanging boards, or mounted arrangements. With a little humidity and the right light, it thrives indoors and brings a wild, tropical forest feel to any space.

🌱 Care Tips:

Light:
Loves bright, indirect light. It can handle some early morning sun but avoid harsh direct sunlight which can scorch the fronds.

Water:
Water when the growing medium (or mounting base) is dry to the touch. Soak the base thoroughly and allow excess to drain. Typically, once a week is sufficient—less in winter. Mist occasionally in between.

Humidity:
Prefers moderate to high humidity. Mist regularly or place in a humid area like a bathroom with filtered light.

Temperature:
Ideal range is 18°C to 26°C (65°F to 79°F). Avoid cold drafts and protect from frost.

Soil:
If potted, use a very well-draining mix like orchid bark or sphagnum moss. If mounted, secure to wood or cork with moss and fishing line or soft ties.

Fertiliser:
Feed once a month during spring and summer with a diluted, balanced liquid fertiliser. Fertilise less in winter.

Pet Friendly:
✅ Yes! Elkhorn Ferns are non-toxic to pets, making them a safe and stunning addition to any indoor jungle.
