Botanical Name: Portulaca 'Hana Misteria'
Common Name: Hana Misteria Portulaca, Variegated Purslane
Origin: Hybrid cultivar, originally bred in Japan
🌟 Description:
Portulaca 'Hana Misteria' is a dazzling and rare flowering succulent known for its bright, daisy-like blooms and striking variegated foliage. The trailing stems are lined with fleshy leaves that display a beautiful mix of green, cream, and pink—making it as much a foliage feature as a flowering one.
In full sun, it bursts into vibrant pink or magenta flowers that open during the day and close at night, creating a cheerful, ever-changing display. Perfect for hanging baskets, sunny garden beds, rockeries, or balcony planters, Hana Misteria is both heat and drought tolerant—a true showstopper with minimal fuss!
🌱 Care Tips:
Light:
Loves full sun and needs at least 6 hours of direct light daily for best flowering. Ideal for balconies, patios, or sunny windowsills.
Water:
Water when the soil is completely dry. Extremely drought-tolerant once established. Avoid overwatering, especially in cooler months.
Humidity:
Prefers dry conditions. Avoid placing in overly humid or poorly ventilated areas.
Temperature:
Thrives in warm temperatures between 20°C and 30°C (68°F to 86°F). Not frost-hardy—bring indoors if temperatures drop below 10°C (50°F).
Soil:
Use well-draining soil—succulent or cactus mix works best. Raised beds or pots with drainage holes are ideal.
Fertiliser:
Feed with a balanced, diluted fertiliser once a month during the growing season (spring to early autumn). No feeding needed in winter.
Pet Friendly:
✔️ Non-toxic: Safe for pets and kids—an excellent choice for family-friendly gardens!
